Shane's Story

Why I Started SolidStreams

I started SolidStreams because I wanted to do the work the way it should be done — without the volume pressure that pushes other companies to cut corners or rush jobs.

Plumbing done right takes time. It takes looking at what's actually causing a problem before recommending a fix. It takes knowing when a repair makes sense and when it doesn't. Most franchise plumbers are built around speed and ticket size. I built SolidStreams around doing the job once, correctly.

"The homeowner deserves to know exactly what's wrong, exactly what it will cost to fix it, and exactly what they're getting. That's the standard I hold every job to."

Water treatment is a specialty for a reason. Austin's water is genuinely hard — over 20 grains per gallon in many areas — and most plumbers don't address it because it requires more knowledge and a longer conversation with the homeowner. I've invested in that knowledge because it directly affects the lifespan of every piece of equipment I install.

Every job I do has my name on it. That's not a marketing line — it's the reality of running a one-person operation. When you call SolidStreams, you get me.

What SolidStreams Means

Three words. One standard.

Solid.
Dependable

Shows up on time. Does what was quoted. Doesn't cut corners because the homeowner won't see it. A solid job looks the same whether the work is visible or inside a wall — because the standard doesn't change based on who's watching.

Streams.
Precise

Water follows the path of least resistance. Plumbing done right works with that — correct pipe sizing, proper slope, the right method for the actual problem. Precision means diagnosing before recommending. The wrong fix on the right symptom wastes everyone's time and money.

Austin.
Local

Austin's water is hard. The neighborhoods have history — cast iron lines, clay tile sewer laterals, live oaks with roots that find every joint. Knowing the city means giving better advice. SolidStreams serves Austin because Austin is where I live and where I know the work.

Credentials

What RMP #46840 Actually Means

Texas Residential Master Plumber is the highest license tier for residential plumbing work in the state. Getting there requires passing a state exam, accumulating supervised field hours, and maintaining continuing education. It is not the same as a journeyman license, a maintenance technician certification, or no license at all — distinctions that matter when work involves gas lines, pressure systems, and code-required installations.

Homeowners are not required to verify a plumber's license before hiring, but they can. The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners maintains a public license lookup. RMP #46840 is active and current.

What to Expect

A straight answer, every time.

No upselling, no mystery pricing, no vague timelines. These are the commitments SolidStreams makes on every job.

Price before any work starts

You get a flat-rate quote before anything is touched. The invoice at the end matches what was quoted. There are no surprise line items for parts or labor that weren't discussed upfront.

Diagnosis before recommendation

Every job starts with understanding what's actually wrong. The right fix for a slow drain isn't always a hydro-jet. The right fix for a water heater isn't always replacement. We diagnose first, then recommend based on what we find.

The job done right the first time

SolidStreams doesn't move fast by cutting steps. Code-required items — expansion tanks, proper permits, correct pipe sizing — are included in the job, not treated as extras or skipped because the homeowner won't notice.

A straight answer when something is out of scope

If your situation involves structural damage, mold, or work that falls outside residential plumbing, Shane will tell you that directly — including who else you should call. Getting the right person on the problem matters more than expanding the job.
